Will it scratch and patina?
Yes — and that's the point. Full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather darkens and takes on shine where you wear it. Small scratches rub out with a thumb; the rest becomes character.
Why is it $490?
The hide. Full-grain Tuscan leather tanned for 40 days costs many times more than the bonded 'genuine leather' most jackets use — and it's cut at living wages in a single atelier. Kept for a decade, it's the cheapest jacket you'll own.
What if the size is wrong?
